After dinner the girls strutted their stuff in some of their new back-to-school clothes, which turned into an all out dance party, even our little man got in on the action! My kids seriously know how to bust a move, all three LOVE to dance! We finished up the evening by my wonderful hubby giving our kids each a special back-to-school Fathers Blessing (I am so grateful to have a husband who holds the priesthood). It was a great night and a tradition that is so fun each school year! I gave each of the kids a flash light with a note to them from me to let them know just how much I LOVE & ADORE them and to help remind them to "Let their light shine". This is our family motto for this upcoming school year...
Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
2010 Jones Family Back-to-School ABC's:
Always try your hardest
Be kind to everyone
Count your blessings
For dessert we had yummy homemade ice cream! It was SUPER easy to make...
4 cups cream
16oz sweetened condensed milk
2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
*I blended 2 cups of strawberries & 1 cup frozen berries into the condensed milk,
then added all the ingredients together,
poured it into the ice cream maker,
added the ice and rock salt, and about an hour later...we had ice cream!

Oh you are so cute Britt, holy cow! Your kids are so lucky to have such a fun thoughtful mom. I love this idea! I love the new family picture too. I must have them wrong blog address for you, you have done lots of updates that I had never seen! Glad you guys are doing good, and hope you all have a wonderful school year!
Hey Britt! I am stopping over from FB!! I LOVE this idea of yours! I wonder if it is too late to start that idea with 12 year olds and younger next year! Hopefully I can remember that long! What a beautiful blog you have!
Back to school!!
I remember the first back to school dinner you did :)
What a great time of year, and I love all the details you put into this special night :)
So fun and sooo cute! I can't believe how old the girls are getting. Its so fun to see them grow.
I have been trying to find a family theme for this school year and I found this post through Pinterest. I made a page similar to yours, framed it and placed it above the kids' station in the hall. Each night before family prayers we will recite the scripture and at FHE the kids will report how the week went and if they had any experiences pertaining to the theme.
They each received a flashlight of their own to help them remember.
Thanks so much for your inspiration!!
Cute idea. Thank you for sharing!
